About OCC:
The Ovarian Cancer Coalition of Greater California was launched in January 2001. OCC’s goal is to save lives through education, early detection, awareness and fund ovarian cancer research. OCC is a partner member of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance based in Washington D.C and the California Ovarian Cancer Awareness Program.
OCC consists of Ovarian Cancer survivors, their friends and families, medical and health care professionals and community members whose lives have been touched by cancer.
OCC is a volunteer, not-for-profit 501-c advocacy organization.

OCC Awareness Campaign
The Fourth Annual Lunch and Learn Symposium will be held on April 9th 2011 at the Sportsman’s Lodge in Studio City. The program will include keynote M.D. speakers and health physicians to educate women about Ovarian Cancer.
The First Annual Swing Against Cancer golf tournament to benefit women’s health at Lost Canyons Golf Club in Simi Valley will take place on Friday, May 20 2011. This event will be a four person scramble and will feature many interesting opportunities for golfers. There will also be mulligan purchases, closest to the pin and longest drive contests (for men and women), cocktail reception, raffle drawing, and special guests. The purpose of the golf tournament is to raise funds for Ovarian Cancer education and research programs in the state of California.
September 11, 2011 will be the thirteenth year for the Women’s Health Annual Walk/Run for Awareness & Hope to benefit Ovarian Cancer. The purpose of the run is to spread awareness and education to the community. The run helps raise funds for education and research programs in the state of California. The 5k/10k walk/run event includes a healthcare expo of cancer, health and fitness related organizations which provide resourceful information. Exhibitors promote healthy lifestyles through food samplings and wellness demonstrations.
United States Teal Campaign
September marks the nationwide observance of National Ovarian cancer Awareness Month in the United States. The first Friday in September, September 2, 2011, will be National Teal Day and the Ovarian C.ncer organizations will lead the efforts of thousands of Americans wearing teal to increase awareness about Ovarian Cancer. Teal is the Ovarian cancer community’s color and serves as a reminder that Ovarian Cancer has affected many women’s lives.

What We Do To Keep Hope Alive:
- OCC participates in a variety of community events including education and health events.
- OCC has Ovarian Cancer survivors who provide free educational presentations to interested community groups and healthcare personnel.
- OCC supports the state of California and federal legislation designed to provide necessary funding for Ovarian Cancer research.
- OCC offers information and outreach to those newly diagnosed linking them with support services and Ovarian Cancer survivors in the community.
- OCC develops networks within the community and state with other organizations.
- OCC advocates the scientific understanding and research of Ovarian Cancer in order to find a better test for early detection and therapies to find a cure.
